ENGINE DETAILS FOR THE CB1000R.

The engine in the Honda 2008 CB1000R is a retuned version of the 2007 Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade engine.

Unlike the original Fireblade engine, the CB1000R has a magnesium head, as well as different inlet and outlet ports and has a different compression ratio. Marc Potter, editor of MCN tested the bike at its press launch in Milan and said "As an engine it's one of the finest in any production bike and hits way harder than you expect."

The official power figures have now been released:

  • Compression Ratio 11.2: 1
  • Max. Power Output 92kW/10,000min-1 (95/1/EC) (123.37hp)
  • Max. Torque 99Nm/7,750min-1 (95/1/EC) (73ft/lbs)
  • Idling Speed 1,200min-1
  • Oil Capacity 3.6litres
